la vida de un portena

If you are reading this than you are familiar with the website, which I encourage you to check out, because I have updated pictures etc. from graduation and the trip to Argentina. It was somewhat difficult to get onto the internet because I nor the person that I am traveling with are not the brightest people in the world.

Anyway, thus far nothing major has happened to Lorine and I beside a cellular phone belonging to Lorine has some how vanished. Being in Buenos Aires is very good for me at the particular moment because I think that going straight from graduation and moving home would have been a hard adjustment. These three weeks are giving me a change to get my head on straight and look for some jobs, because Lord know when I get back that I am going to need one. A friend thinks that they have a place in Springfield to live but the only down side to that is I do not have a job there yet. These are just random thoughts that are circulating through my head so of they are sporatic and make little sense that is why.

As for Argentina it has been very good thus far. I got to see many old friends that I left behind here two years ago. Also, it is good that there is another group in BA that I have had the chance to meet and hang out with. It is nice to be able to go out and take a cab or a bus home for mere pocket change. Unfortuantly, for me, having some what became a "Californian" I have adopted the lax way of dress which I have had to somewhat adapt to the more dressed-up Argentine look. I have not been wearing holes in my jeans, nor flip-flops, but have purchased a few clothes that make me not stand out as much; it is pretty easy to pin point "foreigners". I say that to say this my mother would be proud, no holy jeans here. Anyway, other than that Lorine and I are trying to see more of the city that we managed to overlook on our first trip here; we are hitting museums, art galleries, and other places that aren't lined with bottles of Absoulte, Seagrams, and Jose. More importantly, we have been trying but not yet succeeded, to do more things that are apart of the Argentine culture. Instead of eating at Kansas, which is clearly an American chain restraunte, we have been trying to go to more Paraillas (I might have spelled that incorrect) which is a place where one can eat famous Argentine meats, walking instead of taking cabs, using the subte/buses instead of taking a cab.

Though Lorine and I are not all that steadfast in going to as many places as possible on this trip (it is vacation) we have succeeded in loving this courtry for all of its goods and bads. I have come to tolerate and sometimes not even notice the dog poo on the sidewalks, or the constant carbon monoxide that buses emit. I love this place for the people, the food, and well even the public transportation.
