pura vida

I realize I had intended to post more and I will I just need to get over the laziness factor that is keeping me from writing. Our week here has been good for sure. We started out with Annie's friend Anna in Grecia where we meet her Tico (Costa Rican) mother who had the same interesting sense of humor over disguisting things that I have which is rare and hard to find in a person ha. Anyway, we made home-made empanadas which having been a resident of Argentina at one point I greatly appriciated. We left Grecia and got on a public bus of sorts that was not before walking there I ate serious shit, by falling with a 50lb backpack on my back. As we got on the bus we pretty much hit everyone with all of our bags but whatever.

After Grecia we headed to La Fortuna which was where arenal volcano is. The first day Annita and I hiked about seven miles to a waterfall. the hike sucked we were sweating so bad it looked like we had just gone swimming. Anyway we hiked down and swam in a pretty big waterfall then hiked back up to go back down to the town. The next day we went zip-lining at the base of the arenal volcano it was pretty cool (cool enough to do only once), the trees started looking the same, but fortunatly for 35.00 you could zip-line and then chill out at this beautiful hotel with natural hot springs all day which I definaltly liked. Later that night my friend that lives in Tamarindo joined us at the hot springs. She told me that she was 3 months pregnant which is awesome-she has been wanting a baby since college.

After La Fortuna we took about a seven hour bumpy bus up a mountain to Monte Verde. We had intentions to take a hike in the Cloud Forest the next day if weather permited. we hung out that night not really doing much but the next day went on a hike. On the first leg of the hike we were being really loud and so ass-hole couple pretty much told us to shut-up because we were scaring all the birds away and blah blah. Courtney just stared at them, if I hadn't been so off-guard I would have told them where to shove those binoculars of theres and to learn spanish but I didn't...my granny always tells me that I need to be nice. Anyway, a bit later that afternoon we took a taxi to Tamarindo which was nice because it is a three hour taxi versus a 8 hour bus ride.

In Tamarindo I was informed that my other friend Angel and her BF James were meeting us there from LA..crazy...she had just on the spur of the moment bought a ticket cause she wanted to see her friends. Once in Tamarindo we meet Courtney's BF and Kristina's (my other friend from Pepperdine) BF. It has been great here well besides the food is starting to get to us...beans equal wat too much fiber so well of course my IBS is a putana. Other than that Annita and I are burnt but we will survive. In a few days we head to Nicoya mountains for more hiking except camping might be in our future here.

So...for now that is all, we are one week in and have about four to go so it should be pretty exciting. We will see ya'll when we get back!

Peace, Love, and Rock N' Roll,

Jeannine
